How old should you be to be an adult in America?
We don't believe in Ageism, which is deciding what you can do and can't do based on an arbitary age. (Read The Myth of the Adulthood Fairy for a humorous story about ageism).
But this ACLU survey is fun. How old should you be to do adult things in America? Check it out and fill it out at http://www.aclu.tv/youthsurvey

"Ask Marilyn" touched on ageism in her 6 August 2006 column in Parade Magazine (one of the largest circulation magazines in American). A J.D. Lawhorn, who didn't want his age revealed, asked why do news articles usually tell a person's age?
Marilyn said it's used to describe a person, much the way racial descriptions used to be used. Marilyn also said "The reason you don’t like to 'advertise' your age is probably that you dislike the stereotype of whatever age you are....Maybe it’s time for irrelevant age identification to disappear too."

I don't think anybody's ready to be an adult until they're at least 30. Maybe 40.

I don't think you're old enough to do anything in America until you're dead.

You don't get mature just cuz your 18! I say when your ready to be an adult your ready. Why should they punish 14 years old as adults but then say 14 is just a kid?
