JonBenét Ramsey Parents Cleared--Again. Who's Next?
(Alden Loveshade is a freelance writer who became involved in a political protest while vacationing in Boulder, Colorado, some time before JonBenét Ramsey (sometimes spelled JonBenet Ramsey) was reported missing. Alden has been following the Ramsey case ever since.)
Yes, the story about the parents of JonBenét Ramsey being cleared--again--came out a few days ago. This time, it was "touch" evidence, DNA that was left on the girl's panties that didn't fit anyone in the family. Sadly, mother Patsy Ramsey didn't live to see this, but her husband John and much of the rest of the family did--after living under the horror of suspicion for almost 12 years.
So why am I writing about it now and not a few days ago?
I hesitated doing an entry at all, as I largely said what I wanted to say in a previous post (http://loveshade.org/blog/2006/08/jon_benet_ramsey_murder_case_h.html)
The reason I posted is this:
Lou Smit, a former special investigator for the Boulder district attorney's office, made a statement that could once again fan the flames of paranoia. In fact, it seems intended to do so. "He is still out there, he could be preying on children right now."
First off, "he" may well be in prison or dead. JonBenét's death happened at the end of 1996, over 11 years ago. Has America had a rash of preteen beauty queen deaths for the past 11 years? Actually, the rate of girls in those pageants raised significantly shortly after the reports, but the deaths haven't.
Second, if he is still in America (remember that the most recent suspect was in Thailand), he may well be bothering no one right now. One killing, as horrible as it was, doesn't mean they'll be more.
Third, even if he is in America and is actively looking for victims (which would be extremely unlikely), he's one person in 300,000,000. Children are much more likely to be in danger because their parents don't insist they wear their seatbelts, or don't have working smoke detectors in their bedrooms, or because they overfeed the kids sugar- and fat-laden junk food.
In fact, children, and later as teenagers, are much more likely to be in danger because they haven't been prepared to deal with life, rather than be protected from some random stranger. Children are much more likely to be harmed by their parents, grandparents and siblings than by someone they don't know.
Check the names on those missing child milk cartons--often, the last names of the child and the suspected "kidnapper" are the same. Even when they aren't, the "abductors" are usually parents or grandparents, often responding to what they see as an unfair decision in a custody dispute.
Protect your children when they need to be protected, yes. Prepare them for life, yes. But let's not go around being paranoid, making false accusations, and ruining people's lives because we're afraid of the boogeyman.

The best way to keep everyone safe is to lock everyone up.
Of course that begs the ancient question, "Who guards the guards?"
Posted by: Reverend Loveshade | July 15, 2008 02:40 AM
We guard the guards. We're always there, always watching, always listening. We know who killed JonBenet Ramsey, or even if she was killed. There are things you don't know, many things. But we know.

Hey, RL and MIB, don'cha know Boulder is where Soldier of Fortune magazine was founded?
If they can't keep us safe, who can?
Probably not a surprise that Smit made those remarks on purpose, given that town's politics.
Oddly though, I do recall an issue of SOF featuring some kind of get-together that had Marilyn (or Marylin?) Chambers as a guest of honor.
Y'know, the "99&44/100% Pure, Ivory Snow Girl?"
Hmmmmmmm...

We should pray for the family of JonBenet Ramsey because they can't all be guilty. We should pray that the police find the one who committed this horror. He must be brought to justice!

Nothing that's done will bring back that beautiful little girl, but I'm very glad her Daddy has finally been cleared. It must have been horrible living through two nightmares at once.
Posted by: Abigail Longtooth | July 21, 2008 02:20 AM
America loves that little girl more than if she lived because we wouldn't have heard of her.
Posted by: Big Gary | July 21, 2008 04:25 PM
Hey, where is Rev. Bootie? (lol)
Posted by: RedRyan | July 23, 2008 02:50 PM
Marilyn Chambers is not that pure. She may have been an innocent porn star, but she also sold soap.
Posted by: Ask Marilyn | July 24, 2008 05:38 AM
Big Gary and I guess if Albert Einstein had lived we wouldn't have heard of him either? She might have been a famous model or actress or singer. Who knows?

It's obvious JonBenet's murderers were aliens. Why else would no one be able to solve a simple crime after over 10 years?
Hostile space aliens are always coming after Earth women because they're the most beautiful in the universe. So why not kidnap a young beauty queen?
The body we found was not JonBenet, but a dead mindless clone. The real girl now lives on a planet in the vicinity of Andromeda where she's known as the Queen of Outer Space. She's married to the King, who is Elvis Presley, of course.

RedRyan Rev. Bootie is the Boogie Man we're all afraid of! Or maybe it's the Bootie Man.
Posted by: Abnormal Norma | July 26, 2008 06:46 AM
Marilyn, I had no idea that Ms. Chambers was so corrupt.
Harold, last year I wrote a reminder that Roswell, in part, owes its popularity to pilot Kenneth Arnold over Washington state about 2 weeks earlier.
Now, thanks to your diligent efforts, we know that Elvis and JonBenet rule the Universe together.
Grays, shmays. Gimme the King and Queen!
Posted by: danacasso | July 28, 2008 12:39 AM
Errr...
I mean,
All hail the King and Queen!
Long live the King and Queen!
I kinda forgot my royalty protocol...
Posted by: danacasso | July 28, 2008 01:57 AM
I hope JonBenet is us there, looking at us all and laughing.
Posted by: Alice Palace | July 28, 2008 06:07 AM
Hey, RedRyan and Norma, Bootieman's back! Everybody hide your xxx butt!
Danacasso thinks JonBenet would have been the next Marilyn Chambers? The beauty queen sells Beauty Bubbles, the bath soap for all your body parts!

This all begs the question, why do we dress up little girls so sexy, parade them in make up and skin tight clothes, then get all high and mightly when someone says, "hey, that little girl's sexy!"
Posted by: Vicki Queer | July 31, 2008 06:58 AM
Those parents loved their little girl and they were punished for it. People in our world are so full of hate. If you'd let the love in all that hate which really is from fear would vanish!

Actually, danacasso wonders if JonBenet would be like Marylin Chambers 'cuz of all the recent beauty pageant scandals.
Plus the other scandals involving people under 18.
IF JonBenet were still alive she would be 18, tops.
More likely 17.
That's the approximate age that we're seeing these young men and women fall from grace.
But I was born in the '60s and was raised by hippies through the '70s.
The difference between my folks and the other hippies was that mom and dad had jobs.
(That was their personal joke years later.)
The naughtiness that is shocking people today was EXTREMELY common when I was a kid.
Anyone remember the all-girl hard rock band The Runaways?
They were the group that gave us Joan Jett and Lita Ford.
They formed in '75 and they were all under 18 when they released their first big hit "Cherry Bomb" in '76.
The girl who sang that song, Cherie Currie, performed-and moaned-in the video and on stage in a bustier, panties, and fishnets with garters...and she was 16 or 17.
And that was just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.
If I say any more about what I saw and did growing up, I'll definitely get a visit from the FBI-and who knows who else-so I won't.
Ummmm...Rev. Bootie? I don't think I've ever heard of "Beauty Bubbles."
I'm guessing that you're being your usual self.

Vicki, your question would probably be best asked on a paranormal website.
Only they could even guess at the answer to such a mystery.
Try rense.com, unknowncountry.com, paranormal.about.com, or forteantimes.com.
(rense.com is wonderfully paranoid.)
There are others that I like to visit, but I can't recall their URLs at the moment.

Vicki, little girls don't become women overnight! It takes time and practice.
Welcome back, Rev. Bootie!
Posted by: Kerry Fulmore | August 14, 2008 05:40 AM
Danacasso, if Elvis and JonBenet are the King and Queen, it's all right to say give me the king and queen. Protocol is for Elizabeth and Charles.
Posted by: Kerry Fulmore | August 14, 2008 05:42 AM
Bring back JonBenet. In this day of Lindsay Lohan, Miley Ray Cyrus, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, we need that little girl.
Posted by: Francesca | August 19, 2008 11:50 AM
?Yes Francesca. If JonBenet were alive today, she'd be the great Discordian American Princess instead of no-talent Miley Cyrus.
Posted by: Susie Richardson | August 20, 2008 06:02 PM
Don't say Miley Cyrus doesn't have talent! She may the star of a lame Disney show, but she can act and definitely sing. Look for her to be the next Jewel or Cher.

Don't complain about the media going crazy over JonBenet and then post an entry in your blog! Blogs are a media too!
Posted by: Patty Cook | August 24, 2008 01:52 PM
Why won't people leave this alone? The crime will never be solved and it jjust makes more grief for the family that's still alive. Give it up already.
Posted by: Holy Mackeral | September 1, 2008 10:52 PM
This is what happened. A man and wanna be serial killer who knew JonBenet and family spent time there. Maybe as a worker maybe as a friend. He became obsessed with the little girl and her great beauty. One night he had to see her. He entered their house after visiting and leaving a window on the far side from the parents' bedroom open. He entered, fed JonBenet pineapple, then committed sexual atrocities against her and killed her. He left a note he had already written about a ransom and tried to make himself sound like a foreigner. But he is not. He was an American, he lived very close, and he spoke fluent English. He is now dead explaining why the crime was not repeated and why he never became a serial killer. He only killed one other girl, maybe two. The police know this, but won't report it.

People love anything about the murdered preteen beauty queen. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Posted by: George Rivers | September 3, 2008 01:57 AM
I've read lots of posts on JonBenet Ramsey and yours makes the most sense. The Media punishes the innocent over and over and over again. In their eyes all suspects are guilty. Unless you're George W. Bush.
Posted by: James Nelson | September 3, 2008 10:35 PM
Really. Who wouldn't want to feed that cute little girl pineapple? That's not the prob. What happened is horrible.
Posted by: Franci Morgan | September 5, 2008 01:44 AM
I read your write on the girl. Right on. Don't punish the victims!
Posted by: Digitechy | September 23, 2008 05:21 AM
This godess is the type of talent that could make a gent like myself jeopardize the fidelity of his wedding vows. She's amazing.
