U. S. Supreme Court Stayed Execution of Troy Davis

Troy Anthony Davis at graduationIn a bizarre twist, the U. S. Supreme Court was scheduled to look at the case of Troy Anthony Davis on September 29, 2008.  But the state of Georgia insisted on killing Troy Davis on September 23, 2008.  After 17 years, they didn't want to wait six days even if it meant an innocent man might be saved from death.

Fortunately, the emails, protests, etc. that we and many, many others were behind helped.  The Supreme Court gave Troy Davis a stay of execution just two hours before his scheduled demise.

For those who think you can't make a difference, you can.  Without the support, Davis likely would have been killed by the state a year ago.

Whatever finally results in this case, it's another example of a fundamental problem with execution: if you kill an innocent man, you can't take it back.

Thank God and Goddess! I am so glad we and many other people were able to help. The death penalty is totally wrong. If killing people is wrong, then why does the government do it? And if you make a mistake, you can never, never take it back.

I don't post much here but I'm Lorien's roommate. Many people at our college and in our coven helped too. We can make a difference!

Georgia only had to wait six days and they still wanted to kill him? WTF?

All we are saying is give peace a chance.

Discordians, Pagans, Christians and many others banded together. We helped save a man's life! But there are many more out there. We have to stop the death penalty in America!

I am so glad we could help! Really sending an email is easy!

You mean us Discordians can actually do something useful? Isn't that against our religion?
