Troy Anthony Davis: No One Understands The Law
Can a man who was convicted of murder be cleared by a hearing? No one's sure how this works.
If a man who was convicted is found innocent, does he get a new trial or is he released? Legal authorities are debating.
What rights and authority does a judge have in a case like this? The judge doesn't know, and is trying to find out.
Meanwhile, the life of Troy Anthony Davis hangs in the balance. Davis was convicted in 1991 of the murder of Savannah, Georgia police officer Mark Allen MacPhail based on no physical evidence and the testimony of witnesses, many of whom recently said in court they lied and were coerced by the police. One witness identified one of the other witnesses as the actual killer.
Lawyers presented their final arguments, and District Judge William T. Moore Jr. is looking for advice on what he can and should legally do. The law is such a mess that not even judges understand it.

Don't kill a man because you don't understand the law!

This is a waste of tax money. Kill him and get it over with.

The whole system sucks. You kill somebody, you find you screwed up, you can't fix it. "Kill him and get it over with." Ain't that what they said about Jesus?

How much longer must this poor man suffer? I hope the judge decides to release him or give him a new trial very soon. Our hopes go with you, Troy.

He should be freed. He's been in prison for 20 years with no evidence. Let him go in peace.

Home of the brave,
Land of the free,
Wake up America
and set him free!

I don't know how they're going to make sense out of this because it doesn't make sense. The law needs to be changed. If the evidence against someone collapses, let them free.

The law's stupid.

This case is unique. The courts don't do this. This is different. It needs to be examined carefully. A decision needs to be made.
