American Internet Censorship Proposed
They are at it once again. In the name of protecting corporate interests, a new bill is being considered in Congress. Among other things, if this bill passes "The government can order service providers to block websites for infringing links posted by any users." This could include blogs like this one, in addition to Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook. It could also mean blocking sites from other countries so Americans couldn't see them. This isn't what's happening in China, but it's a step in that direction.
Now we're all in favor of individual creators having the right to their own work and are against people stealing an individual's work in the name of "free speech." But as usually happens when the government goes after something big, this bill goes too far. Let's stop censorship before it begins.

I just don't understand why the government keeps trying to make laws against freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

I saw you can get fined $2,500 and arrested for posting on Youtube! That's just wrong.

Censorship can protect us. People shouldn't be stealing or posting things they wouldn't want children to see where children can see them. We should all be censoring ourselves. But people don't, so laws like this are needed.

Andy I don't need some government goon telling me what I can see on the Internet or anywhere. If they try that we can fight for our first amendment by using the second amendment. Freedom of Speech is protected by the Right to Bear Arms.

I agree with Tom T Trucker, Taw Taw, Marie, Dharma, and MJ. Censorship is just plain wrong. There are a very few cases where it is acceptable like in real cases of national security. Most of the time it is just heavy handed tactics. I dont want the Government or the Church telling me what I can't read or worse what I have to. This is why parents have to take an interest in what their children read and watch because if you don't do it nobody else should have to. Long live Hunger Magazine.
